“Work is love made visible.”

– Khalil Gibran –

Thursday morning we were delighted to host Prof. Carol-Ann Benn, world-renowned breast cancer surgeon and specialist for an unforgettably insp=iring talk;

‘IT MAY BE IN THE GENES/JEANS,
BUT LETS CELEBRATE DIFFERENT BRANDS, FITS, STYLES FOR EACH WOMAN’

  Austin opened the session with a synopsis of “The diet and cancer connection” followed by Carol-Ann, Head of the Breast Care Centre of Excellence at Milpark and Helen Joseph Hospitals in Johannesburg. The morning was a special event for 120 guests who attended; oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, breast cancer survivors and thrivors, their family members. The take-home message which touched everyone was the latest in risk, diagnostics, treatment and recovery not just from a physical perspective but possibly more importantly from an emotional, mental, spiritual attitude to life and living. As we chase the cure for cancer, we are also making some life-changing discoveries about how to optimize health for everyone; diet, exercise, stress management, controlling our exposure to damaging environmental factors.

Deepest appreciation must go to Dave Curtis and his team at the Stable Winery; their fundraising and support for The Pink Project made this possible. also to Nikki, Brad and Ameera at C2 who have sponsored the Pink Project website which went live as of yesterday! Thanks to everyone who came along; I hope you were as touched as I was by this incredible woman.

Kudos to Sue McCullom who through The Pink Project has successfully completed a three month specialist physio course run out of New Zealand for breast cancer treatment and exercise rehabilitation. This necessitated her getting up at all hours of the night to participate in the webinars and assignments; thanks Sue .. you will be able to bring a whole new aspect of physiotherapy to patients and to their healing.

I have inserted a picture of the ground-breaking book highly recommended by Carol-Ann, Austin and myself; you don’t need cancer to turn your lifestyle around; you need knowledge. This book has it all and you will not put it down for days until it’s finished! Had to share all this with you … Debs xx
